What to do when everything messes up

Here’s everything that’s been a total mess in the last 7 days.

  1. We had a large affiliate not so excited about our pet care business affiliate system. Unfortunately it may have ruined the chance we had with them to build a long, and successful relationship.

We tried to simplify out tech stack and instead have lost partnerships and decreased our average order value by way more than I care to admit.
  2. I had my personal website hosted on an average host. Mostly because I wasn’t doing much with it up until I launched the CRS. But when I launched, I thought I could just get away with cheap hosting.

Nope! Had way too many issues. So spent last week figuring that out.
  3. Then once my developer did move the site yesterday we just had a file get flagged as malware and cause the site to be down for half of today.
  4. And while dealing with all of these things we still need to deliver on our promises for client builds and customer support. Needless to say we’ve got a backlog.

Normally these are stories that entrepreneurs never tell.

But there’s value to be gained in hearing these stories.

Realising that you don’t always have to be perfect.

That things can (and will) go wrong.

It’s part of being a business owner.

If this was me in previous years I would have spent the entire weekend stressed, trying to solve everything. Even the parts out of my control.

But these days I realise that everything will get solved by the right people when they get to the core part of the issue.

There’s no need to stress about it.

In fact, taking a walk along the beach and letting your team handle it is probably the best decision you can make at times like these.

And it’s exactly what I did today.

Now, I’m home.

The problems have been solved.

And my mind is clear ready to make up for lost time.

That’s all I can really ask for in these times.
