Inside our first 7-day Sprint: What We Learned 🛠️

You know those moments when you launch something new and it’s simultaneously a huge success and a little bit of a mess?

That was our first Map & Make Sprint.

Some context first: We launched these sprints to create a space where builders could actually build.

Not just watch tutorials.
Not just talk about building.
But actually create automations that transform their businesses.

The Results Were Wild

Let me paint you a picture of what our members built in just a few days:

  • A social media management automation
  • A lead enrichment automation for property
  • A whitepaper research automation

And our 2 winners crushed it with:

But the real insights came from watching how different people approached the sprint…

The Builder vs Watcher Dilemma

Here’s something fascinating we noticed: The sprint quickly split into two distinct groups.

The builders dove in headfirst. They were sharing progress, asking specific questions, joining the live calls…

The watchers… well, they watched. They logged in, consumed content, but hesitated to start building.

This created an interesting challenge: How do you maintain the high-energy builder environment while helping watchers become builders?

Our solution? We gamified it.

We already had a points system – you earn points for:

  • Sharing your progress
  • Helping others
  • Completing implementation milestones
  • Engaging in build sessions

The twist we added?

If you don’t earn any points in the first 3 days, you’re automatically removed from the sprint.

Here’s why it works:

  • Builders stay motivated because they’re surrounded by other builders
  • Watchers get a friendly push to start taking action
  • Those who aren’t ready can join the next sprint when they’re prepared to build

And look… I understand life get’s in the way and things pop up. So we will always welcome everyone back next time.

But the environment of builders building is infectious.

And I can’t wait until we have a group of hundreds of builders dedicated to a 7-day sprint, crushing it with automations.

The Mid-Sprint Pivot

We noticed early the initial sprint layout was not working. So we changed it a little. Not ideal, but sometimes you have to adapt on the fly.

Next sprint will have:

  • Better structured resources (organized by implementation stage)
  • Clearer agenda
  • Better onboarding

The Communication Mess-Up

Our biggest failure – event onboarding.

While all the information existed, we scattered it across different places.

And there are limitations with how we can structure things inside of Circle but we still could have done it way better.

We’re fixing this with:

  • A proper onboarding sequence
  • Centralized chat/comment hub
  • Clear timeline and milestone markers
  • Better notification system

The Good News?

It Still Worked

Despite our fumbles, members built incredible automations. The results were real.

It proved that when you get a bunch of action-takers together, magic happens – even if the container isn’t perfect.

Coming Up Next…

Speaking of automation, I’ve been obsessing over something cool: AI-generated YouTube thumbnails that look exactly like you.

Wild, right? I’m dropping a video about how to create these next week.

But here’s the really exciting part – in our next Product Lab session (exclusive to Massive Moves members), we’re going deep on how to automate this entire process.

Imagine never having to manually create YouTube thumbnails again…

Keep building,
Mitch
