The unexpected doors that open when you build in public (+ why I’m disappearing next week)

I accidentally stumbled into one of the most powerful business strategies of my career, and it wasn’t some fancy funnel or AI breakthrough.

It was simply… building in public.

The last few weeks have been a whirlwind of opportunities that I never would have encountered if I’d kept building behind closed doors.

Let me share what’s been happening behind the scenes…

The Flood of Partnership Opportunities

Remember when I started documenting my automation journey? I had no idea it would lead to this:

  • Industry leaders reaching out – I’ve had high end consultants from other countries reaching out and asking to partner on automation projects
  • Content creators wanting to collaborate – People who are brilliant at creating and selling content but want someone else to handle the technical side.
  • Unexpected industry connections – Fields I never would have entered on my own are now opening up because people saw what we’re building

What’s fascinating is that none of these opportunities came from some sophisticated outreach campaign.

They came because I decided to share my journey openly – the wins, the struggles, and everything in between.

The Growing Building Team

On the flip side, I’m also getting flooded with messages from people who want to join the building side:

  • Developer friends who see the writing on the wall – they know traditional website development is getting eaten by AI and want to evolve
  • Community members who have been following along and want to be part of what we’re creating

Then there’s what’s happening in my own backyard…

A local business is potentially looking to me to help reconstruct their growth teams as they navigate the next phase of their brand evolution.

They’ve seen what we’re doing with AI and know about my history in scaling growth – and recognise the future is AI.

The world is changing faster than most realize, and those who are paying attention want guidance.

The Real Challenge: Choosing Your Path

Here’s the thing I’m wrestling with most right now:

Opportunity is everywhere. The hard part is doing something that feels aligned to you.

And that’s the phase I’m in.

I could say yes to:

  • Building a high-ticket agency
  • Creating more automation products
  • Partnering with big companies
  • Creating a productized service
  • Becoming a pure content creator

All of these paths could work. All of them could be profitable. But which one would make me excited to get out of bed every morning for the next 3-5 years?

Maybe it will be a “no” to all!

Why I’m Disappearing Tomorrow

This might seem counterintuitive, but instead of sitting at my computer getting caught up in all these options, I’m getting into the Tesla and taking a road trip.

I’m deliberately disconnecting from it all to see where my heart leads me.

No notifications. No DMs. No strategy sessions.

Just me, the open road, and space to think.

Because sometimes the best way to find clarity isn’t through more analysis – it’s through creating space for your intuition to speak.

The Building In Public Lesson

If there’s one thing I’ve learned through this journey, it’s this:

Building in public isn’t just about sharing what you’re doing.

It’s about creating relationships that would be impossible to form otherwise.

These relationships become the foundation for opportunities you couldn’t have planned for.

So if you’re on the fence about sharing your journey more openly, consider this your sign to start. You never know who’s watching and what doors might open.

I’ll report back after my road trip with whatever clarity emerges.

Until then, keep building,

Mitch
