I accidentally stumbled into memes (and my account blew up)

I accidentally stumbled into the world of meme marketing and discovered something huge.

For years I’d been watching other brands crush it with meme content while I sat on the sidelines thinking “that’s not for me.”

After all, I’m a serious entrepreneur building automation tools, not some comedian, right?

Wrong. So very wrong.

What happened next completely changed how I think about content marketing, personal branding, and the future of our brands.

The “I’m not funny enough” mental block

For the longest time, I had this story in my head: “I’m not funny enough to create memes.”

Sound familiar?

I’d see competitors crushing it with meme content, building engaged audiences that actually responded to their posts, while I was stuck in the land of “professional content” that nobody cared about.

Every time I thought about trying memes, that voice in my head would say: “Leave the comedy to the funny people, Mitch.”

The late-night experiment that changed everything

Last month, after a fun day playing Padel, I decided to try something different.

It was about 10pm (why do all my business epiphanies happen late at night?), and I thought: “What if the problem isn’t that I’m not funny… but that I don’t have a system?”

So I did what any automation nerd would do – I started building an automation to handle the whole meme creation process.

I created a brand new IG page about Padel and got to work.

The first version was ROUGH.

But even that basic system changed everything.

From 0 to 112K+ views in 30 days

The results absolutely floored me.

Starting from zero followers on a brand new account, we hit 112,000 views in just 26 days using nothing but memes generated through this system.

(since got to more than 150k in the first 30 days)

No paid promotion.
No influencer shoutouts.
Just consistently posting memes that the system helped create and schedule.

The best part?

I didn’t suddenly become funny. The system did the heavy lifting:

  • Suggesting caption ideas based on our brand voice
  • Downloading videos without those annoying watermarks
  • Keeping everything organized in one dashboard
  • Scheduling posts for peak engagement times

Behind the scenes of our meme experiment

The most surprising part of this journey wasn’t just the 112K views—it was discovering that creating effective memes isn’t about being naturally funny.

The first few memes I created felt awkward. I kept second-guessing every caption and wondering if anyone would actually engage with them.

But once I committed to the system and started posting consistently, something clicked. The engagement started coming in, and the process got easier with every post.

What I love about this system is that it removes all the technical barriers and creative pressure.

The AI suggests outputs, and the automation handles the tedious parts—so you can focus on selecting what resonates with your audience.

What this means for BigMoves

This accidental discovery has completely changed how I think about content creation.

So much so that we’ve packaged the entire system into what we’re calling “AI Meme Agent OS” – the exact same setup that generated those 112K views.

It’s not just about posting funny content. It’s about connecting with your audience in a way that doesn’t feel corporate or forced.

In a market where everyone’s trying to look perfect, being willing to laugh (and make others laugh) is becoming a serious competitive advantage.

Want to see under the hood?

If you’re curious about how we built this system and want to try it for yourself, we’ve made AI Meme Agent OS available this week.

Your purchase includes FREE lifetime access to the BigMoves Community, where you’ll get weekly live tech support, masterclasses, and connect with other automation-focused creators.

P.S. We decided to just make the full system public in a YouTube tutorial. That way you can rebuild it yourself if you want or grab the templates. It’s up to you.
